What would be a fun animal themed activity for a playgroup summer school?
One fun activity is to make lifesize Emperor Penguins out of black paper (and white paper, too, of course). The penguins are about one meter tall and it’s fun to see the comparison of height with the kids. You’ll need a roll of black paper – then you can pre-cut the forms and let the kids assemble them. Cut out fronts and backs and staple (some of the kids can do their own stapling, and some will need help) around the edges and stuff them to make a more ‘real’ representation of the penguin. You’ll need yellow crayons, too; Emperor Penguins are yellow/gold right at the top of the throat. Eyes, and beaks and feet. . .and you have a lifesize penguin. here’s a link to a website about Emperor penguins, if this helps any. http://www.penguinworld.com/types/empero… Soooo…..that’s my idea!
