What would a gay and lesbian spirituality look like?
One man in the group told everyone that his gay son had tried to commit suicide and that he (the son) felt God say to him at that moment, You are who I made you and you are good. Another man said that he thought that gay people may be closer to God because they had to work through it, not just accept it. Another woman said that these stages are similar to the stages of grief, that a lot of things in life that are difficult to deal with go through these stages. When a person reaches the point that they can love themselves and say yes I am gay, then they have finished the stages. Pay attention to your emotions because your emotions are the way that God speaks to you. One of the dangers is SCRUPLESan unreasonable fear of sinIm sinful because of my orientation and doubly sinful if I engage in any kind of activity.
