What workers compensation benefits are provided to an injured worker in Mississippi?
Under Mississippi law, an injured worker is entitled to payment of all medical bills that are necessary to treat the injuries. This includes doctors, hospitals, therapy, drugs, medical devices and other related expenses. Mileage is reimbursed for travel to and from doctors and medical facilities. The injured worker will need to keep a detailed list of dates, mileage and which doctor or medical facility. This must be submitted to the workers compensation insurance adjuster for payment of mileage. The injured worker is entitled to receive 66.67% of his average weekly wages for each week off work. The worker must be off at least five days before being entitled to any payment. There is a limitation of $292.86 maximum weekly benefit (as of 1/1/99).
