That all depends on where you place the word on the board because some spaces have double or triple word value.

Check out all the interesting Scrabble stuff on this webpage (halfway down): http://members.aol.com/gulfhigh2/words14… It says: The highest-scoring opening plays in Scrabble are MUZJIKS (128), and QUARTZY or SQUEEZY (each 126). Other words yielding high scores as an opening play are POPQUIZ (128) and ZYXOMMA (130). Of course, this website shows how you can get 1962 points in a single turn: http://www.fun-with-words.com/scrabble_1… A little far-fetched, but theoretically possible, I suppose!
