What will TrAILCo actually buy?
TrAILCo will purchase an easement to use the property for the TrAIL project. Property owners will continue to own the land, and will have some restrictions regarding use of the area of their property where the actual easement is located. For instance, a house, garage, barn or other structure cannot be constructed on the right-of-way. However, property owners will be able to use the easement area to raise crops or graze livestock. These restrictions will be clearly defined in the easement agreement. The rest of the property outside the easement will have no restrictions and will not be subject to the easement.
