What will the traffic impacts be in terms of safety and added congestion at The Vallemar intersection?
An independent traffic-engineering firm assessed traffic impact and found no significant impact. Their report is part of the FEIR Addendum 3 report available on the City’s web site at the link provided at the end of the Q & A section. All trucks supplying and picking up products from the plant will be similar in size and type to petroleum fuel delivery tankers already active at that intersection, and will operate only at off-peak hours. The majority of deliveries to and from this site will be non-flammable, non-toxic and biodegradable vegetable oil and biodiesel. Added traffic will be a maximum additional two trucks per day at off-peak hours and one employee arriving and departing at off peak time. At peak production, there would also be bimonthly deliveries of methylate and occasional deliveries of sulfuric acid, common industrial chemicals delivered in specially designed tankers that pose no unreasonable risk. These chemicals are consumed in the process and will not have to be remove
