What will the top 10 richest countries look like in 20 years?
Looking back through history one thing is certain, power and influence never last forever. We have seen this time and time again with the Incas, the Egyptians, Mesopotamia, Cambodia, Ancient Greece etc – so anyone who things the top ten will remain the top ten have a rude awakening to deal with. The most common acronym for the emerging powers of the world is: BRIC – Brazil, Russia, India and China and considering the overwhelming land mass (40% of the world), the natural resources and the huge population (2.5 – 3 billion) it is no surprise that these countries have an advantage as globalisation progresses. In 20 years I would imagine the strength of these countries to increase exponentially as their organisation increases and their development steams forward. As for the rest of the top ten I would say Canada would surely be there with it’s wealth of natural resources and size.
