What will the Task Force do to assure that the data are used correctly for populating the IMS?
The Task Forces responsibility to deliver high quality data is described in PR Notice 2000-2. The Task Force together with EPA will achieve this goal by two methods. First, the Task Force is running intensive operational quality evaluations on the IMS and the manner in which data are used by it. Second, EPA and the Task Force will have access to the base data from Heritage Programs in order to determine under what terms and scope it can be used for management decisions. This will be very helpful in that FWS has had access to these data for the purposes of ESA species listing decisions, but EPA has not had access to these data for the purposes of interpretation of the data and its use in management decisions. Only those data suitable to accurate management decisions on ESA regulated species will contribute to update the content of the IMS.
