Looking to further boost sales of its instant ticket games which last year reached a record high of US$1.76 billion and contributed to the lottery’s second best year in its 37-year history, the Pennsylvania Lottery has signed up two National Football League (NFL) teams, the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Philadelphia Eagles, to launch new branded lottery scratchcards. The two teams become the fourteenth and fifteenth NFL teams to sign partnership agreements with their respective state-sponsored lotteries, taking advantage of new rules allowing teams to use their logos on instant ticket scratchcards. Nearly half of all NFL teams have now signed up with lotteries ahead of the official start of the 2009 season next month. The Pennsylvania Lottery will be offering both Steelers and Eagles branded $5 instant tickets with six top cash prizes of $50,000, and more than $15 million in total cash prizes as well as hundreds of second-chance experiential prizes.
