What will the impact be on the yellow-footed rock wallaby?
SPCM is aware that yellow footed rock wallabies are present around the area of Crocker Well and, although a threatened species, they have actually been increasing in numbers in recent years. SPCM has already obtained all current and historical data in regard to the yellow footed rock wallaby, and is also undertaking its own studies to identify their habitats. As part of the government environmental assessment process, we will need to definitively state the potential impact of a proposed mine at Crocker Well to the habitat of the yellow footed rock wallaby. This study will draw on the knowledge of local people as well as environmental experts from outside.
