What will the FOCAS project gain by extending the go-live date from 2010 to 2011?
The additional year in the FOCAS project schedule will provide time for a number of joint project initiatives, including the development of an integration solution using Services Oriented Architecture (SOA) that will provide for near real-time processing of financial transactions and significant business process improvements across the NYFMS and FOCAS systems; definition of a complete statewide Chart of Accounts (COA) down to lower levels of detail than had originally been planned as part of the FOCAS Project; development of a statewide master Vendor File that will be shared by both systems, with associated business processes for creating and maintaining shared vendor data; and, establishment of a single Identity and Access Management solution for FOCAS and NYFMS users, to facilitate user access to both systems resources in a secure environment.
