What will/should President Obama address in his State of the Union speech?
Although no date has been given yet, President Obama will soon give his 2010 State of the Union address. What topics will/should he address? There is much talk that he will discuss the need for a commitment to fiscal responsibility in the longer term. The need for such has been underscored in a slew of recent reports, such as Red Ink Rising from the Peterson-Pew Commission on Budget Reform at http://budgetreform.org/. In the wake of the Detroit airline bombing attempt and earthquake in Haiti, terrorism and disaster response and recovery are also likely to come up. And, of course, there are jobs, economy, health care, immigration, climate and energy.
