Your distance vision will usually be very good within a day or two after cataracts treatment, followed by your near vision a few days to a week later. There may be a short adaptation period in getting used to your near vision since this will be new to you. As it is customary with all cataract surgery, you will take an antibiotic drop for one week and an anti-inflammatory drop for three to four weeks in your operated eye. Your near vision with the ReSTOR® intraocular lens implant will be intact much more quickly than the Crystalens® HD. Since the ReSTOR® lens works differently than the Crystalens® HD, there will be no need to take dilating drops in the post operative period and it will not be necessary to perform eye exercises to further improve your near vision after surgery. Most patients have their second eye done with the ReSTOR® implant about two to four weeks later.
