What will my child gain from the RockStar program?
Students will develop “real-world” skills related to performing music in a small venue such as a restaurant or nightclub, including setting up quickly; playing in tune and in time with the rest of the band; knowing what music to play; how to gauge volume; how to get an audience “on your side”; tearing down quickly: proper care of their instrument and more. All students will learn to sing while playing, and singers who do not play instruments will play hand percussion. The students will learn how to listen to each other, and to fit into a group regardless of what instrument they play. Some instruction on the proper use of various gear will also be included. The object of this course is to teach the students how to listen to one another and create music that is audience-friendly without taking away opportunities for the individuals to shine.
