What will lowering the drinking age accomplish?
Should the drinking be lowered? Before we decide on the answer to this question, we need to ask ourselves something. If the drinking age were to be lowered to 18 what benefits would this provide? What are some of the problems that we might encounter after we lower the legal drinking age? Do you think that lowering the drinking age will make it a less desirable drug for the college age population to use? I think that laws should be in place to provide protection and benefit those that are living under them. If you do not agree with this statement I will try to convince you that this applies to the law that prevents those under the age of 21 to purchase or consume alcohol. I will argue that the problems incurred by changing the law will outweigh the benefits. Even if enforcing this law seems futile, I will show that changing this standard communicates to our children that the laws in place can just be changed to keep us happy.
