Orientation and Assessment services for boys will be moved to one unit at the TYC facility in Mart, Texas. Intake, orientation, and assessment for girls will be moved to one unit at the Ron Jackson State Juvenile Correctional Facility. Intake at the new sites will begin Monday, August 27, 2007. As projected, TYC will transfer both the Marlin and San Saba facilities to the Texas Department of Criminal Justice by August 31, 2007. Three-hundred-two employees at Marlin elected to retain their employment with TYC; 278 successfully obtained employment (all juvenile correctional officers, case workers, and psychologists were accommodated). One-hundred-ninety-one employees at the John Shero State Juvenile Justice Facility in San Saba, Texas, sought jobs with TYC. The agency was able to accommodate 179 of them (Again, all juvenile correctional officers, case workers, and psychologists were offered jobs).
