What will happen to the current Wal-Mart site if they do relocate?
The City has a strong interest in looking at combining both the old Wal-Mart site and the city-owned Albertsons building, to create a core downtown commercial district, including mixed use with some housing units that could complement the Public Road business district. The City sees this as a potentially exciting opportunity to rebuild, revitalize, and renew both Public Road and South Boulder Road. If Wal-Mart re-locates, City staff will work with Wal-Mart to cooperatively transfer the ownership of the old site into the hands of one or more redevelopers.
