What will happen to the current Tacoma Narrows Bridge (completed in 1950)?
The 1950 bridge will be upgraded and improved as a part of the project and kept in use during construction of the new bridge span, and after. After the new bridge span is completed and the 1950 bridge improvements are complete traffic will travel westbound to the Peninsula on the 1950 bridge while traffic will travel eastbound towards the Tacoma area on the new bridge.
