What will happen to staff whose existing salary does not match the new grading structure?

Since many points on the old pay scales do not have exact equivalents on the new 51-point spine, a lot of staff will benefit slightly because they will be moved to the nearest point above their current salary level. If, however, your new grade is assessed by HERA as being at a higher point on the scale than would be required by a simple transfer to the nearest point, your job will be green-circled and you will be paid at the higher level. If your new grade is assessed as being at a point on the scale lower than your current salary level, you will be red-circled and your current level of pay will be protected for a period still to be decided (The partnership Steering Group will be making recommendations on this).
