Well that depends on whether your partner is working or unemployed/receiving benefits. If you are both on benefits then there will have to be one main person claiming and you’ll claim for both of you. It will be a bit more than what you get now, but less than if you were separately claiming. If your partner is not working but not claiming benefits then they will either have to start claiming job seekers allowance and find work or undergo the necessary steps to claim other benefits if they can’t work. If your partner works then depending on their income, your benefits could be reduced or stopped all together. They’d have to be earning a fair amount for them to stop completely though. If you are already living together, then this should have already all been done though as they don’t care whether it’s a civil partnership or your married or just a couple living together.
