The Caloundra Emergency Department will close and services will be transferred to the Sunshine Coast University Hospital when it opens in 2016. The new hospital and Nambour will operate EDs from 2016 and beyond. Caloundra will operate primarily as a community health facility from 2016. It is planned for Caloundra to also be a centre for palliative care and renal dialysis.
