What will happen to Australia’s trade reputation if there are major problems caused by an accredited exporter in the international market?

The accreditation process is intended to introduce companies or co-operatives of good repute and financial capability to the bulk wheat export industry. It is intended that accredited exporters will maintain high standards in their dealings with growers and in international market places. WEA will monitor the behaviour of accredited exporters to determine if they are ‘fit and proper’ for the purposes of the Scheme. WEA has the capacity to exercise judgment about how an applicant’s record is likely to impact on its ability to fulfil its obligations as an accredited exporter. When WEA is reviewing or considering granting or renewing accreditations it will assess factors such as whether the applicant is at risk of bringing Australian wheat trading into disrepute.
