What will happen in the criminal case?

The State of Florida brings a criminal case against the drunk driver. You are a victim and a witness in that case. The State is pursuing criminal charges against the drunk driver. Most of the time, the drunk driver will take a plea deal and plead no contest to the charge of DUI. Please make sure to cooperate with the State Attorney’s Office, because they need you as a witness. Be very patient, because the State Attorney’s Office is very busy. There may be criminal hearings and other proceedings that you are scheduled to attend that get moved to a new date. If you are asked to attend a hearing, or you receive a subpoena, make sure you cooperate. It is a good idea to call the Witness Coordination Program of the State Attorney’s Office a few days before the scheduled hearing to make sure that it has not been moved to a different date.
