What will happen if the incorrect fuse size is fitted for an electric shower?
If an under-rated fuse is used it will be overloaded and will keep tripping out. If the fuse rating is too large it will not disconnect the supply quick enough under a short circuit fault condition. To avoid these problems the correct size fuse/mcb must be fitted for the kW rating of the unit in accordance with the I.E.E. regulations. Sizes required are: • 7kW = 30/32amp mcb.
