What will happen if I have to top-off the Emgard synthetic with non-qualified or petroleum based oil?
Emgard synthetic transmission and EP gear lubricants are fully compatible with most major brand synthetic or petroleum based gear oils. If petroleum oil is used for top-off or refill after repair, there would be no incompatibility or adverse reaction that would jeopardize the transmission or axle. Because of the lower oxidative and thermal stability of these oils, the component manufacturers require that any top-off of 10% or greater of a non- approved oil would necessitate a “standard” drain interval. To maintain the extended warranty the unit should be refilled with a qualified lubricant only.
