Many factors are involved in obtaining clear images. We use state-of-the-art equipment and highly qualified technicians trained in obtaining images that are clear. However, there are several factors outside of our control which will determine the quality of the images. Fetal positioning: Some babies come ready for their pictures and seem to be posing at every turn. Others simply turn their back on us. Still others cuddle up to the placenta or uterine wall, or hide behind their hands. We know you particularly want to see your baby’s face and we do all we can to encourage your baby to turn our way. Particularly in 3D and 4D, a straight-on face view is not very common. We urge you to enjoy the fun and the sometimes funny positions your baby prefers. Maternal tissue: The more tissue the sound waves need to travel through, the less contrast the resulting images have.

We often find we are able to image even the most shy babies and we do our best under all circumstances. However, there are several factors outside of our control which will determine the quality of the images. 1. Unfortunately not every ultrasound session produces images likes the ones we see on the GE commercials. Because we use the best imaging technology available coupled with licensed/certified sonographers, we feel you have the best chance of obtaining quality mages by having your ultrasound completed at Becoming Mom. We do our best, for every client, to obtain the very best images possible. Regarding image quality, the following factors, outside of our control, impact the quality of the images: • Position of the baby. The baby’s position has the greatest impact on image quality. Many cooperate with lots of open face views, smiles and yawns. Others however, hide behind feet, hands and the placenta. Some babies seem a little too anxious for their first portrait, and press their face right against the uterine wall. Other camera shy babies face the mother’s spine, giving us a great view of their back. If your baby is not in a good position, our sonographers will use appropriate approved proce

There are times when despite our advanced technology and efforts, creating a picture exactly as you envision is not always possible. Your baby may demonstrate its nature by facing Mom’s back or by putting his/her hands/feet in front of their face or by pressing his/her face against the uterine wall. These are just a few of the ways in which baby will make it difficult for us to obtain “pretty pictures”. Every 3D ultrasound is different based on gestational age, position, amount of fluid, placenta location or location of fetal body parts. Any of the above may interfere with views of the face or other body parts. If after a brief assessment of the fetal position, we feel that we will be unable to create or obtain adequate images, we can discuss rescheduling your appointment.
