What will be the transport arrangements for students across the Borough under the proposed changes?
The transport arrangements and entitlements will be the same for Tamworth students as they are across the County. Those living in excess of 3 miles from their nearest/catchment school will be entitled to free transport. Post 16 students will be entitled to purchase the subsidised pass for use on service buses as well as the school buses where they are needed. The County Council’s existing transport policy will apply. This entitles pre-16 pupils attending their nearest school or catchment area school to free transport where their home is greater than 3 miles away. For pupils from low-income families (in receipt of free school meals or maximum working tax credit), the mileage limit is reduced to 2 miles. Reflecting the rural nature of Rawlett’s catchment area, 282 pre-16 pupils receive free transport.
