What will be the Pell Grant maximum in future years?
Under the new law, the Federal Pell Grant Program will continue to be funded out of both appropriated funds (federal money allocated on an annual basis through the federal budget process) and mandatory funds (federal money that must be used for a specific purpose). Federal appropriations will continue to provide the bulk of funding for the Pell Grant Program while mandatory dollars will be used to provide an “add-on.” From the 2014-15 award year through the 2017-18 award year, that mandatory add-on will be based on estimated changes to the consumer price index (CPI).
