What will be our reaction if the Pope responds positively and includes Pagans and Witches in his apology?
We will send a formal “thank you” to him, graciously accepting his apology and commending him on his forward thinking, compassion, and desire for religious tolerance, intercommunication, and interrelationship. We will also issue worldwide press releases regarding this decision. According to early Vatican press releases (see above), on March 8, 2000, the Pope will be leading a “penitential procession from the Basilica of Santa Sabina to Rome’s Circus Maximus,” in which he will “call for forgiveness for the historic failings of the church… Alongside the Jews, to whom the Pope has extended his apologies, will be representatives of those whom the Inquisition tortured and killed for their beliefs.” Therefore, we expect to have a Pagan/Wiccan contingent invited to participate in that procession.
