What wildlife would be under threat by building the temporary weir?
A total of 68 listed threatened species have been identified under the EPBC Act in the area that the weir would be located. These include birds, amphibians, mammals, fish and plants. Nine species of particular significance are highlighted. They are identified as being at significant risk if continued environmental degradation occurs. The nine species are: • Mount Lofty Ranges Southern Emu – Wren Stipiturus malacharus intermedius • Orange – Bellied Parrot Neophema chrysogaster • Spotted Quail – Thrush Cinclosoma punctatum anachoreta • Swift Parrot Lathamus discolor • Southern Bell Frog Litoria raniformis • Eastern Long – Eared Bat Nychtophilus timoriensis • Murray Cod Maccullochella peelii peeli • Murray Hardyhead Craterocephalus fluviatilis • Yarra Pygmy Perch Nannoperca obscura. Of these, the Southern Bell Frog and Murray Cod are likely to be significantly impacted on if the temporary weir is built. Conservation plans already in place to tackle the low flow conditions are expected to
