What wildlife is there at Nant yMoch?Will this be affected?
We have been surveying up on the Nant y Moch area for biodiversity and ecology for nearly two years now. There are limited areas of active peat bog and sensitive habitats but the area is now mainly dominated by commercial forestry which is not particularly good for biodiversity. There are some known chough, goshawk and peregrine nesting sites which we are aware of and will be protecting. However, these bird species as well as curlew and red kite are not present in large numbers over the Nant y Moch forest. The Red Kite Trust surveys that we have commissioned have confirmed that many of the red kites breed further down towards Talybont, and therefore the wind farm will not adversely affect the red kite populations.
