What what does it mean, if a countrys government is a constitutional monarchy?
A constititional monarchy is one where the role of the monarch is defined and usually completely restricted within a constitutional system, in most cases giving power almost completely to the legislature and retaining a symbolic role only for the king or queen. Britain is a constitutional monarchy. The Queen retains a few ceremonial rights -specifically the rights “to advise, to be consulted by, and to warn” the Government – but has no real power – virtually everything she does is “on the advice of” – that is, under instruction from – “her” government, from the recall and prorogation of Parliament to the award of honours.
