What were the results of the most recent sewage system survey?
From the 10/18/2003 Public Meeting handout sheets: Of the 382 developed properties in the Borough, 138 were surveyed (36 percent). A total of 27 of the systems surveyed were found to be malfunctioning (19.6 percent). The age of the systems surveyed was from one to 80 years old; the average system age was 28 years. Repairs had been performed on 34 of the systems, some more than once. The survey also indicated that homeowners are having their septic tanks pumped out more frequently than usual, sometimes more than once a year and most often every two years.
