What were the reasons or influences for choosing to build/participate in the Lake Nona area?
The Nemours site is located in the heart of Lake Nona’s Science & Technology Park, and is within very close proximity to its other major anchors – the UCF College of Medicine, Burnham Institute for Medical Research and the Orlando Veterans Affairs Medical Center. This central location will allow Nemours to capitalize on the synergies occurring onsite at Lake Nona’s emerging medical city. Nemours selected this particular site because it provides the appropriate size, space and location for the non-profit enterprise’s comprehensive mission while allowing the organizational control necessary to fulfill Nemours’ CON conditions and state regulations. When will the hospital open? Nemours will break ground on its integrated pediatric health campus in 2009, allowing enough time for the organization to comfortably fulfill its Certificate of Need (CON) requirements to the state.
