What were the options identified in the Stage 1 Report and Options Paper to streamline current standards?
The options were: • no change to existing standards • standardising the language and structure of existing standards • develop consistent standards based on HACC standards with some flexibility for specific programs and varying outcomes • develop completely new standards and outcomes. The PAWG proposed to proceed with Option 3 (combined with Option 2) and consider Option 4 in the longer term, preferring Option 3 over Option 4 as it maximised continuity for the sector by minimising the amount of change required to implement it. This option would also reduce the training required for assessors and maintain links with other programs, such as Veterans’ Home Care.
