His guiding principles were Ideological Internationalist foolishness. He was an Anglophile and probably would have dropped his idealism to side with the redcoats in the Revolutionay war had he been around then! His ideas were based on a double standard and hypocrisy. Seriously, his 14 points were based on the right for people to be free to determine their own fates through self-determination. Conflicts that would arise from this would be dealt with by a “League of Nations”. It was idealistic and not one single European Ally had any intention of following them. Neither would anyone give up their own interests in a League of Nations.
