the Northern Alliance where tribes mostly in the north of Afghanistan which opposed the Taliban, the USA gave them weapons, money and intelligence so that they would fight some of the War against the Taliban as we fought. Ironically, many members of the Northern alliance where once members of the Communist Party that the Soviets supported in the 80’s During that time, the USA gave money and weapons to the Mujaheddin to fight against Soviets and communism in Afghanistan.
