WHAT WERE TECUMSEHS GOALS AND BACK THEN WHY WAS THE TREATY OF GREENVILLE NEEDED?

0

The TREATY OF GREENVILLE established borders in the Northwest territory between Indian lands and American settlers in 1795 after the battle of Fallen Timbers. It was needed to stop the Northwest War between Indians and Americans. But it did not stop the encroachment of American settlers into Indian lands. Tecumseh saw the eventual take over of all Indian lands in the Northwest territory and in the area of America east of the Mississippi river. He sought to form an alliance of tribes to combat further American expansion. His efforts were thwarted at the battle of Tippecanoe in 1811, and Tecumseh himself died in battle in 1813.
