Appearance was very important in ancient Egypt. They washed multiple times a day and were clean shaven.

For deoderant, men and women rubbed pellets of carob on the skin, and placed little balls of incence in the armpits and elbows.

Kohl from galena was used for eye make up. Galena is blue-grey and was made from lead sulfide. For green eye make up, malachite (a copper ore) was used with a vibrant green color. Rouge was made from a red ochre tinted clay. Nail polish and hair color was made from henna.
