What were President Roosevelts views on the United States and imperialism?
This is kind of long winded. But necessary to explain so you can understand better Imperialism is when a strong country takes control of smaller nations. It is not always done by militarily takeover. American imperialism was done by financing and arming revolutionaries to overthrow their government, assassinations, imposing sanctions and embargo’s on nations until the citizens revolted and overthrew it. The U.S. would then through various means, place a leader in the country who would act as an American puppet. Saddam, the Shah of Iran, Noriega and many Central and South American leaders were put in positions of leaders by the U.S. The Monroe Doctrine (President Monroe) was (and still is) American policy prohibiting Europe, or Asian nations (Including Russia, China) from colonizing, taking over, or installing governments favorable to them, in Central and South America. Teddy Rooselvelt, was a strong supporter of the Monroe Doctrine. He believed it was America’s right and best interest
