What were popular fashions and trends in the 1960s?
Antonioni’s film Blow Up gives an excellent idea of what attitudes, styles, and fashions were like in the 1960’s. You should google some stills from it, or even watch the film through if you have time. The defining female style of the 1960’s was the miniskirt (topless dresses had a brief popularity during 1964/65, but were never seen outside upper class parties or exclusive holiday resorts); the defining male style was probably the short sports jacket (called bumfreezers at the time). Throughout the 1960’s most styles and fashions had originated in the US (Europe was still recovering from the affects of WWII) but in the 1960’s European styles and fashions again became dominant.
