What were Juliets fears related to her diseases?
A recurring theme in Juliet’s life was her parents sending her away from them “for the good of her health.” She saw this as an excuse to get rid of her, and she feared this rejection and abandonment by them more than she feared disease. In real life, this rejection of Juliet by her parents, under the guise of concerns over Juliet’s ill health, was considerably more systematic and extensive than was portrayed in the film (see 7.3).
