What were Boston Terriers bred for?
To find out almost anything about Bostons, the best source is the parent club for the breed. That club is the Boston Terrier Club of America, a club started by the founders of the breed. There is a great resource called Project Gutenberg that puts out web files of old books that are no longer under copyright. One of those books is an excellent early book on Boston Terriers that was written by one of the first breeders and owners of Bostons. Here’s a link for the book.
