Some documents that support the idea of self-government in the United States: The Federalist Papers, The Declaration of Independence and the Constitution. -The Federalist Papers The Federalist Papers are a treatise on free government. The combined papers or essays demonstrate a vision on constitutional democracy and Federalism. The delegates looked to the states and not the existing interim government for ratification of the new Constitution and government. Let’s be clear on one point.
