What weapons does a police officer normaly carry?
A lot depends on the laws of the state. Some states don’t allow law enforcement personnel to carry TASERs. In that case, the police officers will probably carry mace or pepper spray instead. Some states have also outlawed the use of batons by law enforcement personnel. Most police officers carry a semi-automatic pistol with two additional ammunition clips, mace or pepper spray, and at least one pair of handcuffs (many police officers carry two pairs). In states where batons are allowed, most (if not all) police officers also carry batons. In states where TASERs are allowed, roughly half of the police officers will carry them instead of mace or pepper spray. Also, many police officers carry an additional semi-automatic pistol in an ankle-holder. P.S.: Police officers don’t carry tear gas as a rule. The SWAT teams and riot squads have guns that launch tear gas canisters.
