Both only describe aspects of what light truly is. Light is both, particle and wave. The theory that best describes light is Quantum Electrodynamics. In a way it delivers a mathematical construct that combines both aspects. In detail, QED is much more complicated than just to mix both theories (Huygens and Newtons).
