Woodrow Wilson was the twenty-eight President of the United States, for an eight-year period, from 1913 to 1921. He was President when the World War I started in Europe, and signed the proclamation of war with Germany in 1917. Major events during his Presidency include the Federal Reserve Act that established the Federal Reserve system (1913); the creation of the League of Nations in 1919, which later became the United Nations, and the 19th amendment that gave women the right to vote (1920). The same year, President Wilson received the Nobel Prize for Peace.
