What was Vineland like way back then?
WS: It was a nice residential town. And everybody seemed to know everybody and it was a nice congenial place to be. I went to college when I got out of high school there. MM: You went to Rutgers College and you are now the oldest living alumni, is that correct? WS: Well, uh – I don’t know whether I should say yes or not. (laughs) MM: You are one of the oldest man in America at this point, aren’t you? WS: Well I never – to ask a question like that! MM: That’s what I had heard! Marymae: The last time I checked, which was about six weeks ago, and it does change, Dad was the second oldest man in the U.S., and the fifth oldest man in the world. That’s documented.
