What Was The Written Purpose Of The Fourteenth Amendment?
The Fourteenth Amendment was written in order to guarantee the repayment of the national debt; however, the Confederate debt was prohibited from claiming repayment. The amendment has provisions that state that any person born in the United States is automatically considered a citizen, and every law should apply to all people and is not based on race. This means that if an action is illegal for a black American, it is illegal for a white American as well.
