What was the worst item of food which was rationed?
The worst item. Well I think butter. You missed butter. You know it was like you scraped it on and you scraped it off, and the thing was we didn’t have any refrigerators in those days so mine didn’t get the chance to go bad. (laughter). If you ate it all, well it, that was it. You just had to share, use your brains again and ration things, and there were certain things you could, you could get vegetables, they weren’t rationed, so if you knew somebody who had an allotment or a garden they would probably give you a cabbage or onion or something like that.
